As we begin the new year, Shiloh Baptist Church is committed to promoting whole-person wellness—body, mind, and spirit—within our congregation and community. January brings several important health awareness observances that encourage prevention, early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and compassionate support for those in need. From cancer prevention and eye health to blood donation, healthy weight goals, and substance use recovery, this month offers meaningful opportunities to learn, take action, and care for one another as we honor our bodies as temples of God.
Cervical Health Awareness Month: Focuses on preventing cervical cancer through vaccination and screening.
National Blood Donor Month: Encourages people to donate blood to help meet the national need.
National Birth Defects Prevention Month: Raises awareness about preventing birth defects and congenital anomalies.
National Glaucoma Awareness Month: Promotes early detection of glaucoma through regular eye exams.
Thyroid Awareness Month: Brings attention to thyroid diseases and disorders.
Healthy Weight Week: Occurs during the third week of January and focuses on setting healthy weight goals
Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month: Raises awareness for those with substance use disorders.
